Ahwatukee “House of Dreams”

Ahwatukee Arizona PhotoAhwatukee, originally called, “Casa de Sueños,” meaning “house of dreams, is nationally recognized as one of the best places to live in the United States. One of the twenty-three individual communities within the Phoenix area, it is ideally located in south Phoenix to the east of South Mountain.

Beginning as an individually owned property, the dream home of Mr. and Mrs. W.V.B. Ames, part of Ahwatukee was purchased and developed in 1971 as a residential community. Since then, other land parcels have been added to the original Ahwatukee community, further adding to its diversity.

It has continued to grow and properties within its boundaries have the best median home prices in the area with the exception of Scottsdale. Master-planned golf communities, retirement communities with all of the amenities, luxury homes, modest starter homes, condominiums, and town houses have all sprung up in the area. Although the housing boom is slowing down, the appeal of Ahwatukee remains strong.
